Book Sales
All events are free and open to the public. Purchasing an author’s new featured book from the Midtown Scholar Bookstore is required for entry to the signing line. (Additional copies of a book may also be signed if time permits.) Sales receipt or proof of purchase will need to be presented to staff at the entrance to the signings.
We envision the Harrisburg Book Festival as a sustainable part of Harrisburg’s future, and book sales are a major source of funding to ensure the festival’s viability. Thank you in advance for supporting the Festival and the Midtown Scholar Bookstore.
Did you know? Studies have repeatedly documented a positive economic impact from locally owned businesses, which generate a significantly greater return to the local economy than that of retail chains, big box stores, or online retailers.
Seating & Signing Lines
Seating is first come, first served. We recommend arriving early to ensure the best possible viewing experience for the events. Book signings will take place immediately following the event.
Harassment Policy
The Harrisburg Book Festival is dedicated to making our event a safe space for everyone and adheres to a zero tolerance for harassment of any kind. If you witness or experience behavior that makes you feel uncomfortable, you should immediately report it to a festival staff member or volunteer.
The Harrisburg Book Festival will not tolerate any form of harassment, including but not limited to:
Unwelcome or inappropriate physical contact or attention, offensive verbal comments, verbal abuse, intimidation, bullying, bathroom policing, stalking, physical assault, and/or disruption of programs in relation to age, appearance, body size, citizenship, color, gender identity or presentation, mental or physical disability, pregnancy, race, religion, and/or sexual orientation.
If a person(s) engages in harassing behavior, festival staff will take prompt action in any form they deem appropriate, including asking the offending party to leave the event and, in extreme cases, contacting local law enforcement. In the case of reported harassment a staff member or security personnel will escort the individual(s) to a safe space while the situation is handled.
Our mission is to celebrate the power of words to stimulate, agitate, unite, delight, and inspire. To that end we strive to make everyone feel welcome in an environment where they are accepted. As literature enthusiasts ourselves, we take seriously the importance of creating a space where all can celebrate their love of books safely.
